Why sell?

The shop has the age of 9 years.

This shop runs mainly and mostly because of interest in the culture of the clothings. The owner would like to spread the Indian culture (Kashmir). The style is rather classical yet rich in Indian heritage. The shop is rather unique as it is the only shop selling such products in the whole stretch that is known as Jonker Street. The cultural value is strong. “No rush in selling, I enjoy it,” says the owner. He is also the only shop in Jonker Street that sells merchandise from Kashmir. In addition, he mentioned that all the items he sells are made from Kashmir and not the usual places such as China or Thailand., suggesting that his products are top of the line Kashmir and not merely a knock-off of the real deal.

Customers

There is no frequent customer as business is casual and light. There are both foreign and local people purchasing the different products. This shop has a different taste, thus the diversity of customers patronising the store.

Shopkeeper's Words

“I love Melaka, it’s a great place”

Our View

We are rather amazed by the culture and element in this shop. The shop sells clothings of a totally different culture compared to Melaka culture. Therefore, it would be as easier to earn a profit in such a shop and environment. However, once again, culture and the sentimental values of their clothing is what spurs them on despite the slow business of late. Every merchandise was very painstakingly sewn and made and we enjoyed the atmosphere and friendliness of the shop owner. He was one of the most open shop owners and he tried his best to answer all our questions in detail unlike the usual treatment in Singapore where shop owners give you curt and short answers.
